Competitions are open only to paid-up members.
All images must originate from the work of the author.
All entries must bear the Member's name, the title and the class or competition in which it is entered. Slides must be spotted on the front, bottom left hand corner. Prints must be mounted, minimum size mount 25cm x 20cm, maximum mount size 50cm x 40cm.
Entries must be submitted at the Club, at least seven days before the competition. Late entries will not be accepted.
Trade processed and digital prints are eligible for all Club competitions.
The maximum period that a single image may be used for competition purposes is three years from the first time that the image was entered in a Club competition.
Best of Summer competition- Prints only is held on the first day that the Club reconvenes for the winter programme. As an exception to the rule, prints are to be submitted on the competition night. Images must have been taken during the summer programme evenings. Four images (mono or colour or a mixture) may be entered for this competition.
Quarterly Competitions consists of a single OPEN category. Four entries may be submitted in each of the following classes: colour print, mono print and slides. The judge may, at his/her discretion, award up to five Certificates of equal merit. All certificated Quarterly Competition entries will be eligible for the Three Shields Competition and may not be entered again in any other Quarterly Competition.
Print and Slide of the Year Competition images must have been taken since the previous year's Print and Slide of the Year Competition. A maximum of four colour prints, four monochrome prints and four slides may be entered.
A.W. Dartnell Competition - Portraits is a set subject competition, open to prints only. A maximum of four colour prints and four monochrome prints may be submitted.
L.E. Macready Competition is a Natural History only subject for images shot on slide film only. A maximum of four slides may be submitted.
Sheila Birch Competition is a Natural History only subject for prints. A maximum four colour prints and a maximum of four monochrome prints may be submitted.
Set Subject Competition A maximum of four colour prints, four monochrome prints and four slides may be submitted. The competition is based on a set theme (see programme).
Three Shields Competition. The Rene Le Vaillant Shield for the overall winner of the mono print quarterlies. The Jersey Camera Club Shield for the overall winner of the colour print quarterlies. The Jersey Photographic Club Shield for the overall winner of the slide quarterlies.
Trophies Competition maximum entry of three images per class.
For colour and monochrome the classes are: Portrait, Pictorial and Action.
For slides the classes are: Portrait, Open and Action.
A print or slide that has won an award in any of the Trophies Competitions before, may not be entered again in the same class.
The method of judging competitions shall be at the discretion of the Committee who reserve the right to reject entries.
Exceptions to the rules mentioned above can only be made by the Committee at an official Committee Meeting.
Newton Landscape Competition this is a landscape / seascape competition open to prints only. A maximum of 4 colour and or monochrome may be submitted.
Annual Exhibition Prints must be mounted and NOT FRAMED. Maximum size mount 50cm x 40cm. Work must not have been entered in any previous Jersey Photographic Annual Exhibition.
